A small side story

My first dog and first fur baby was a Great Dane named Titan. He was amazing. Loved everyone he met and loved every animal he came across. While we would be hiking together for some reason yellow butterflies would always show up around us. At least twice that I remember they actually landed on him. I never really thought much of it until we brought home our second Dane Ares who was a rescue. Unfortunately because of some issues Ares had (from trauma that happened to him before he came to us) I was unable to walk both dogs at the same time. While I was out with Titan as usual yellow butterflies would appear around him. When I was out with Ares I didn't see any yellow butterflies. It was odd but I thought maybe it was because Titan really was a gentle soul. After a few years of these two bonding and getting to enjoy life together Titan was diagnosed with cancer and ended up leaving us way too soon. Our whole family felt his loss deeply and I found it hard to carry on at first. But every day Ares made sure to keep me going by waking me up with kisses for our morning walk. At first I didn't really notice anything, but after a few weeks I started to see yellow butterflies coming around Ares. This stood out to me because never before had they been around when I walked him. I connected it right away to Titan visiting us. For almost two years every morning I looked forward to my walk with Ares so I could see if we would get a visit from a little yellow butterfly and every time I saw one I would say "Hey Titan, I miss you".

Skip ahead a bit and it brings me to the day we brought Zeus home. I had mentioned to Mike in the car after going over some worries that I knew it would be okay if we saw a yellow butterfly, that it would be a blessing from Titan. When we got home our first meeting between Ares and Zeus didn't go perfect. Zeus was a little scared of the biggest dog he had ever seen and tried to hide. As I was trying to keep Ares calm and Mike was trying to convince the puppy it was all was ok a yellow butterfly gently and calmly flew right between everything that was happening. I could not believe my eyes. This was my sign. It was ment to be. As the butterfly passed by the dogs calmed down and we were all able to go into the house and start our new family life together calmly and on the right path.

I think Titan is watching over us and I'm sure that he approves where ever he is. For now I will take his butterfly visits as a sign we are on the right track and wouldn't you know it, one showed up on our first walk all together as a family.
